Maintaining a healthy lifestyle is all about balance. If you are on a weight loss journey this is an important aspect to learn now so that you don’t develop the mindset of labeling foods as “good" or “bad” or over exercising as a form of punishment.
It’s all about your healthy habits. It’s all about your routines. It’s the tiny habits. The tiny habits lead to big results.
These are things that you stick to everyday because you know they make you a better you, increase your energy, help you sleep better but most importantly be confident in your body!

1. Find a Workout Split That Works For You
Focus on finding that sweet spot for your workout split is important! That sweet spot should be in between something that challenges you but isn’t overdoing it.
Fall in love with movement.
Your workout split could be 5 days a week Monday-Friday or Tuesday-Saturday.
It could be 3 days a week like Monday, Wednesday and Friday.
There is no right answer. The only right answer is the one that works for you.
Once you determine how many days a week and which days you are going to workout, determine where this will take place.
Are you a gym girlie? Do you prefer working at home, group fitness classes or workout studio?
The more specific you get the easier it will be for you to be consistent.

2. Focus on Healing Your Gut
Your gut is like your second brain. The foods that you eat affect you mentally and physically, your mood, skin, appetite and sleeping habits.
When you focus on adding foods that nourish your body like protein, veggies, healthy carbs and healthy fats.
Your gut becomes inflamed when there’s an increase in oils, processed foods, increase in dairy and lack of fiber and water.
A big part of healing your gut is increasing your water intake. This keeps you satiated and helps everything flow.
The simplest way to increase your water intake is to carry a water bottle with you. At home, at work, while you’re running errands.
Set a realistic daily goal. If you are someone that doesn’t drink a lot of water, make it your goal to drink one water bottle a day and progress from there.

3. Get Your Zzzz’s
It’s 2024 and we’re prioritizing sleep. We’re getting 7-8 hours of sleep because if not it will make it more difficult to maintain a healthy lifestyle.
A lack of sleep can lead to overeating, decreased metabolism and decreased physical activity.
This is pushing you even further away from your goals!
There are countless studies that show when you get an adequate amount of sleep this leads to an increase in productivity. You’ll actually wake up wanting to do the things you love.
Plan out your day the night before. Plan on going to bed by 10pm. Set your gym and work clothes out the night before.
Lean into your night routine. Allow yourself to unwind and relax.

4. Manage Your Stress Levels
This is easier said than done but an increase or sudden spike in stress levels can lead to overeating, lack of sleep, lack of hydration, depression and anxiety and the list goes on.
Whenever you know you are either entering and unexpectedly entering periods of high levels of stress lean on your healthy habits and routines.
It’s easy to push those to the side but that’s what they’re there for.
If that isn’t doing it for you, break out of your routine. Something has to change.
Go outside, get some fresh air. Go to dinner with your girls. Close your laptop until Monday. Regroup, refresh and reset.
It’s easy to get consumed in the 9-5 but you can’t pour from an empty cup.
5. Build Healthy Habits and Routines
Healthy habits are all about the things that keep you on track. I’m sure you’ve seen an overload of information about this on social media but it stands true.
This is the secret sauce that helps you maintain a healthy lifestyle. A healthy lifestyle is composed of healthy habits that then turn into routines.
For example if you like working out and journaling in the morning these are healthy habits.
When you develop a morning routine you wake up at 6AM and journal. After you finish journaling you workout for 30 minutes.
It gives you a bit more structure so that you’re more productive and maintain the healthy lifestyle you’ve built!

6. Eat Consistently
You have to eat your meals. Stop skipping breakfast, especially if you’re working out in the morning. You know you’re hungry.

Eating throughout the day is what helps keep your blood sugar nice and balanced so you don’t have those sudden drops or spikes,

The idea behind maintaining a healthy lifestyle is not feeling like your entire life is about being in a caloric deficit or feeling like you have to be in the gym 6 times a week - but if you do that’s great!
