Self Care Ideas You Need Now!
I feel like I’m sooooo busy and my schedule is only getting more packed. Whether it be with school, work, family or even just life, the holiday season is busy for everyone. Putting yourself first might be on the last thing on your mind (I know it has more me), but I promise you it’s something you can’t miss. As mentioned in my first blog post self care is a super important aspect to building a healthy lifestyle.
I cannot stress enough that you have to make time showing up for yourself a non negotiable.
I know you might feel like you have to be everywhere doing everything, but before you do, slow down. Go somewhere quiet. Close your eyes. Take a deep breath. Release your anxious thoughts and any and everything that is weighing you down. Open your eyes.
This blog will cover the top 3 self care ideas for all you busy ladies!
1. Spend quality time with yourself
There's nothing I love more than lighting a candle, or a diffuser and journaling my thoughts on this past week and what I’m hopeful for in the future.
Other times this may look like decluttering your space. More times than we’d like to admit a lot of the clutter and stress from our minds is a direct result of the clutter of our space. Carve out 30 minutes to tackle that project in your closet that you’ve been putting to the side.
Honestly, I’m not a huge fan of reading, but I’m trying to get better at it. This Boundaries book will help you grow so much as a friend, spouse, girlfriend, daughter. Every time I read it I learn so much and feel inspired to, unapologetically, be the best version of myself.
2. Treat yourself
Make yourself your favorite meal. There’s nothing like a home cooked meal that has the perfect balance of protein, healthy carbs, veggies and healthy fats. I feel like this is so underrated but food is so healing. These recipes let you get creative in the kitchen and try something new.
Do your favorite face mask. Okay so I’ve been using these eye mask for the past few months and they give my under eyes that natural glowy look that I absolutely love. *Tip: put the eye mask in the fridge and let cool overnight for the best cooling effect
3. Move your body
Sometimes when you’re stressed, tired and hungry it’s hard to motivate yourself to go for a walk or do one of your favorite yoga videos.
One simple way to help with this before you go to sleep or leave for work in the morning (depending on what time of the day it is) is to take out a cute activewear set so when you see it, it’ll remind you to do it. Plus who doesn’t love a cute workout set?
Be present with yourself, your thoughts and your emotions for 30 minutes and your body will reward you for it.
And of course after you workout don’t forget to stretch and foam roll so your muscles can recover properly.
Self care is all about putting yourself first, regardless of what you might be facing. Our bodies show up for us in so many ways day after day. The best we can do to show our body love is to treat her like royalty. After you choose one or all of these things to do, let me know how it went! Which one was your favorite? Get in the routine of doing this at least once a week.
