How to Build Your Self Care Routine in 7 Easy Steps
Let’s talk about how you’re going to build your ultimate self care routine!
Let’s be real, you have a packed schedule and that’s why it’s important for you to prioritize yourself.
We just entered Q2 which means you are probably finding your flow of your work/life balance or maybe you’re noticing that you need to put more of a focus on your self care routine.
This routine is all about quieting the noise and pouring into yourself. Practice doing more of what makes you feel like you.
This post is all about building your ultimate self care routine!
1. Clear Space, Clear Mind
Make sure that you are in a space that allows your mind to be free. Allow yourself to be in a space where you are able to release control and be present with yourself.
Eliminate distractions, background noises and anything that might stop you from being present during this time.
Your environment is so important to how relaxed you feel during your self care routine.
Your environment can be calm and soothing or can cause you to be anxious.
Take out your favorite journal and begin to write your thoughts. It doesn’t need to be organized. You can brain dump.
You can journal on your computer or iPad. However you best like to journal your thoughts.
How was your week? What were your highs and lows? Most importantly, how do you plan to consistently incorporate self care into your daily routine?
Inhale. Exhale. Let’s begin.
2. Set the Vibe
Make sure you have comfortable clothes on. A comfy robe or silk pajamas always make me feel like I’m entering a spa in my house.
Next, you can light a candle or your oil diffuser.
Eucalyptus and lavender are great essential oil fragrances to help you relax and they are clean for your environment.
A light fragrance lightens the atmosphere.
You might even want to put on your favorite playlist. Jazz or classical is the best for self care nights. No lyrics. Just vibes.
3. Make your favorite meal + beverage
Self care nights are for your favorite meals - you can even order take out to make it easier.
If it’s the end of the week and you’ve been waiting to order your favorite takeout meal or finally cook the meal you’ve been craving all week, then do it!
Pour your favorite beverage in a nice aesthetic mug. It makes you feel SO boujee and takes the routine to the next level.
4. Take a hot shower
The stress that leaves your body when you take a shower is unreal. It’s the perfect way to release tension and helps you unwind from a stressful day.
You can even drop a few essential oils in there to create a better ambiance.
Use your favorite shower products that make you feel good and confident.
There’s nothing like getting in the shower knowing that you are about to use your favorite products.
These aren’t just any products. These are THEE products that make you feel like you’re THAT girl.
Self care nights might have you leaning towards more neutral, light and feminine scents. This way it makes it easy for you to layer your favorite serums, body oils and lotions.
5. Skincare
Yeah those skincare products that you haven’t had time to time to use all week. It’s time to use them. Open the package babe.
Nothing screams self care night like a face mask.
When the face mask goes, my eyes close and I feel like my life is complete
This face mask locks in the hydration and makes me feel like I’m sitting on the beach.
It doesn’t have to be a 10 step skincare routine. But now you have time to actually to use the products you’ve been waiting to use!
6. Declutter your Space
Clear space, clear mind right? You don’t have to declutter a massive part of your home, but there's something about folding your laundry or starting the load of laundry that just helps you sleep a little better at night.
Divide your home into tiny sections. I’m talking about the corner of your closet or the pots on the kitchen counter.
It may also help you to start a timer for 15 minutes, pick one space to clean and get er done!
7. Get some Rest Babe
Ahhh, by now your mind should be clear, you should feel relaxed and ready to get into bed.
You’ve completed your self care routine by setting aside intentional time for yourself and now you feel like your cup is full.
You’ve slipped into your favorite pajamas and are ready to slip on your favorite silk sleeping mask.
After you’ve completed all the steps above, now it’s time to get some rest. Your body has probably been working in overtime this week and getting rest is more than necessary.
Tomorrow you’ll wake up feeling refreshed, motivated and unstoppable.
