This post is all about your daily self care routine!

1. Plan your ideal time and place

Before you actually plan what you are going to do for your daily self care routine, it’s important to know when and where this taking place.

Does this look like 15 minutes in your bathroom or 30 minutes at the gym? Find your space that’s comfortable for you. If you can’t dedicate a space just for you, create space where you feel comfortable.

Look at your schedule and decide how you can incorporate self care in the morning and at night. If you are an early riser, set time aside for yourself in the morning and the same for at night.

Self care can take place anywhere. You can do it in your house, apartment, bathroom, living room, backyard, gym/workout studio, etc.

2. Try waking up at least 15 minutes earlier

Start by trying to wake up15 minutes early then you normally would. This allows you to just be present with yourself. When you wake up earlier this gives you time to…

  • actually give your body a chance to wake up

  • workout

  • enjoy your morning coffee/tea

  • be present with yourself

  • make breakfast

  • pack a healthy lunch

There are so many different types of self care so don’t feel like you have to stick to one thing. If you don’t like working out in the morning, focus on mentally preparing yourself for the day.

3. Set goals!

Setting goals will keep you stay centered and on track! Grab your favorite journal or device and write out what you expect to gain from your daily self care routine.

Within those goals you can break down your goals into smaller goals. This will help you create habits. Successfully completing habits is what allows you to accomplish your goals.

For example, if your goal is to clean your room everyday before work, a habit that would help you accomplish that goal would be for you to make your bed. Making your bed is the first step you can take to cleaning your room that would allow you to then fold your laundry.

The key to setting goals is making them REALISTIC. REALISTIC goals should be within reach and give you the ability to create actionable steps to complete.

4. What makes you feel grounded?

So you know that passion that keeps you awake at night, keep doing it.

It doesn’t even have to be huge things like starting a business. It’s the small habits that make you feel grounded like journaling in the morning, enjoying a cup of coffee or tea, spending time at the beach, going to the gym and spending time with your friends.

These are activities that make you feel grounded because they allow you to TRULY be yourself. Stay close to those things

5. If you don’t have time, create time

Truth is, if you sat back and looked at your schedule you would probably say that you don’t have time for self care. That’s why you have to create time.

When you create time, you are showing yourself that you love and care. Also, this challenges you to structure your routines accordingly. YES, you can have your cake and eat it too!

Sometimes creating time looks more like saying no to late night plans, and saying YES to yourself.

6. Be willing to adjust and adapt

While you are creating your daily self care routine, evaluate. Add more things in that you enjoy and this will leave less room for the things you don’t.

Although your schedule might change, adjust and adapt to the ebbs and flows. This means that maybe you won’t have as much time in the morning to do your workout so you have to adapt to a more convenient time.

The key to staying consistent with your routines is understanding that they are not always going to be perfect and that’s totally okay. That’s life, right?

Your dream self care routine will not always going to be easy, but it will be worth it. Yes, life gets busy, but your mental health is important too! It’s all about finding balance.

7. If you feel stuck….

If you are trying to create a daily self care routine and you feel stuck or that you are not enjoying it, it's time to dive deeper.

There is probably a root cause to this feeling and it’s needs to be addressed. It may be difficult for you to enjoy spending time with yourself because of past mistakes, questions of self worthiness or lack of peace.

Whatever you are facing, YOU ARE WORTHY! You’re doing amazing! In fact, this should be a sign to you that you need to spend more time with yourself to discover the root issue.

Self care is amazing, but it’s not always easy. You are strong. You can do this!

It’s your turn to create your dream daily self care routine. Dive deep into the things you want. Feel free to try new activities. Most importantly, be patient with yourself. Building your routine is a journey so have fun and enjoy the ride!
