5 REALISTIC Steps: How to Make New Years Resolutions!

Are you ready to learn HOW to make New Years Resolutions that you’ll ACTUALLY stick with?

Next year is going to be different in the best way for you! The EXACT way you are going to do this is by making New Years Resolutions!

New Years Resolutions are the foundation for how you begin your year. These goals are specific and realistic that revolve around the life you want to live.

Don’t worry if not you’re not where you want to be. Accomplishing your goals is all about taking baby steps to get to where you want to go!

When creating your goals, they should all answer your “why”. This is what keeps you grounded.

This post is all about how to make New Years Resolutions!

1. What do you believe?

Before you pull out your laptop or iPad Pro or even pen and paper, understand that believing that you WILL accomplish your New Years Resolutions begins in your mind.

I know it’s easier said than done, but believing is the most important step before actually doing anything.

You have to believe that your hard work will pay off. Believe that you’ll get the dream job. Believe that everything will work out for your good (because it will!)

Silence the outside voices and whispers of others and connect with yourself. As long as you believe that you can do it, it WILL happen!

2. It’s time to write it down

The next step is to write everything down. Write all your visions, wildest dreams, biggest aspirations, strongest desires down. There is no limit. Remember the goals need to be measurable, specific and realistic!

If you’re worried about failing so much so that you can’t even write your dreams down, write it down anyway. Say it aloud. You have to start somewhere.

After you finish writing everything down, put it somewhere visible. This could be on your nightstand, dresser, wall, bathroom mirror, etc.

Those goals are not going to accomplish themselves. You have to put the work in. Sometimes, the only way to put the work in is to remind yourself of it, daily.

3. Break down those goals

Breaking down the goals answers the how they’re going to be accomplished.

For example, say your goal is to lose 10 pounds. Well, that’s pretty vauge and doesn’t give you the steps as to HOW you’re going to do that nor can you measure it.

New goal: I want to lose 10 pounds in the next 8 weeks. When you give yourself a deadline this makes it a lot easier to form new habits so that you can actually do this.

Habits: waking up at 6am to workout, grocery shopping on Sunday, meal prepping at home, home cooked meals Monday-Friday, bed by 11pm.

Of course these are just an example but you get the idea.

You can even break those habits down further to get even more specific. For example, a habit that will help you wake up at 6am is by starting your night routine at by 9:30 and reading Colleen Hoover by 10pm.

Spend as much time as you need in this stage. This is one of the most important steps because it can change the outcome of your resolutions.

4. Track your progress

When you make resolutions, tracking your progress is KEY. During this step you can check in with yourself to see how you’re doing.

If your resolution is to lose 10 pounds in 8 weeks, the scale should not be your only form of checking your progress. Take progress photos. Are you feeling more energized? How are your clothes fitting you? Are you eating consistently throughout the day?

Tracking your progress does not always have to be this “big” thing. It can be and when it is, it’s an amazing feeling! It’s the little check in’s throughout the day. It’s your waking up a bit earlier to go to the gym. It’s you going to bed a bit earlier. It’s the “little” habits change our lives.

If it’s time to change something, change it! If you need to shift your mindset so that you can accomplish the resolution you want to create, adapt!

5. Choose you!

Now that you’ve created these amazing New Year’s Resolutions, it’s time for you to commit to yourself. Make the decision, right now, today to show up for yourself. It’s a daily decision.

On this journey, you HAVE to KEEP showing up for yourself. You can’t keep running on empty.

Yes, there will be times when you don’t feel like it. This is when discipline kicks in because motivation can only take you so far.

Truth is, you’re not going to feel like it everyday. Some days are going to be difficult but this goes back to first step. Do you believe? Do you believe you can overcome this hurdle? I know you can do it, but now you have to do the same

If a resolution isn’t working for you, change it! As you evolve, so will your taste. Don’t stick with things that aren’t serving you.
