Are you finally ready to learn how to be productive in life?

Being productive in life is one of the those things that you have to learn and grow from the ebbs and flows. It’s not easy. Yes, you will have your days, but YOU CAN do it!

The truth is your productivity comes down to your ROUTINES! We all have routines, whether you are aware of them or not.

Routines are the one thing that keep us grounded. It’s the small daily habits that keep us going throughout the day. This could be anything from your morning cup of coffee, favorite skincare products down to the cup of tea you drink before bed.

This post is all about how to be productive in life!

1. Create routines and stick to them!

Routines are life! Now it’s time for you to create routines or change up your current routine if it isn’t working for you.

When you think about your morning from the time you wake up until you leave for work, what things make you feel your best?

If you feel like routines are too overwhelming, think of your daily habits. What daily habits allow you to excel at your best?

Here is an example of mine!

  • I wake up

  • pray, journal and read my Bible

  • drink celery juice and water

  • eat a snack before the gym

  • crush my workout

  • shower

  • eat breakfast

  • get ready for work

The same goes for your night routine. What things help you unwind after work and get ready for the next day?

Routines help you stay on track which increases your productivity. When you confidently walk into your day knowing what you need to do instead of letting the day get the best of you, you accomplish way more!

Once you get the hang of your routines, you’ll fall in love with them and it will become second nature!

2. Make list!

Like routines, list are lifesavers! If you love handwriting your list, you HAVE to get this daily planner notepad!

It’s literally less than $8 and so easy to write your list of daily to-do’s. You can even time block yourself to help you be even more productive!

Truth is, making a list of to-do’s keeps you on track to complete your task.

When you make your to do list, be sure to complete the task that you are avoiding first. After you get those out of the way, you have more time for the easier task!

If you struggle to stay productive throughout the day, reward yourself for completing what you can, even if it isn’t everything you wanted to do.

Sometimes, it just feels impossible to complete an ever growing to-do list so celebrate yourself for what you can do!

For example, completing your list of to-do’s or most of your list of to-do’s, reward yourself with your favorite drink, watching your favorite movie/show, more self care, etc. Make it fun for you!

3. Set REALISTIC goals!

Goals keep you on track and when you stay on track you are more likely to accomplish those goals.

If looking at every area of your life is overwhelming (I completely get it!) look at your top 2 most important areas of your life and set goals.

For example, you could look at your career and finances and say that you want to save $2,000 and make a plan to start your own business.

Remember, when you set goals they should be REALISTIC meaning you should know the exact steps as to how you are going to accomplish them!

4. Start your day early!

I’m sure you’ve heard the saying that the earlier you get started, the more productive you’ll be throughout the day. Not only will this help you be productive in life, but it will help you settle in your routine quicker.

For my girls that don’t necessarily love waking up early in the morning, this is where your morning routine comes in handy.

It’s an adjustment, but the adjustment is worth it. Wake up to things that make you feel excited like making a healthy breakfast, moving your body, listening to your favorite podcast, creating content, watching your favorite Youtuber, or catching up your on your favorite blogger (aka me haha).

5. Are you a night owl?

I know we’ve been talking about the early morning, what are you doing at night? Your productivity can be greatly affected by the things you do at night.

For example, if you are used to staying up late, binging movies, late night eating, partying, drinking, etc. your body will require more rest meaning you aren’t going to wake up as early and probably have a later start to do the day.

If you can do those things and still wake up feeling refreshed, great! That’s not the case for everyone.

Again, productivity is all about staying on top of your routines. Sometimes, this means putting your prioritizing the things that are important.

If it’s difficult for you to fall asleep at night, I HIGHLY encourage you to create a night routine. This helps you relax your mind and body so that your body becomes familiar with the routine. It takes time for your body to adjust, but your body will adjust.

Between all of your hard work and increased productivity, your body will be begging you for sleep!

6. Create balance!

Yes, you can indeed have balance while still being productive. No, you don’t need to be doing something all the time to be productive.

Being productive in life is all about creating balance. This is how you avoid burnout and taking on an excessive workload. Work hard, play harder.

The key to creating balance is setting boundaries with your career, coworkers, friends, family and everything in between.

I can’t say how amazing this book has transformed my mind on boundaries! Townsend does an amazing job on breaking down boundaries in a practical way for each area of your life!

Balance can be seen through going on a vacation or staycation once or twice a year, spending time with your friends.

You are so much more than your work. You have a life outside of your job. There’s a life to live, explore and enjoy!

7. It’s a journey!

The key creating a life of productivity is understanding that it’s a journey! A journey is one with ups and downs.

Remember, as long as you remain consistent to what is front of you, the results will pay off.

Allow yourself to fall, make mistakes and get back up. Accept that there will be times where you will want to throw in the towel, but remember that you have to keep going.

Take breaks often. Allow others to help you. Get out of your comfort zone.

This isn’t a race. It’s your journey. It’s how you envision productivity for YOUR life! Own it!
