It’s those things that make you feel like yourself. It get you excited to wake up in the morning. It keeps you grounded.
Most of the time when you are in a rut it is your body’s way of telling you that it doesn’t like something that you are currently doing or that something larger needs to be addressed.

Evaluate where you are right now
The first step to getting out of a rut is evaluating where you are. What makes you feel like you are in a rut? Why are you unhappy?
It might be a little uncomfortable, but I promise you the more honest you are with yourself in this moment the easier it will be.
While you are in this phase, journaling might be a helpful tool to
Set new REALISTIC goals
After reviewing the things that are not working for you, determine HOW you are going to change that. Yep, you guessed it.
The key to setting goals is to set REALISTIC goals. These are attainable goals that you can where you set attainable steps to achieve. Now it’s your turn!
For example, if your sleep cycle is inconsistent and you decide that you need to get better sleep, a goal could be to get 7-9 hours of sleep by being in bed by 10pm every night.
Try something new
Nothing shakes up your routine more than you trying something new. This could be anything from taking a solo or girls trip, taking time away from work.
Trying something new forces you to step away from you day to day activities. It stretches your mind to try something new.
This could be anything from pursing your passions, trying a new sport,
Seek guidance
It might be hard to admit, but sometimes you are stuck and just need help. Babes you do not have to have it all figured out. When you are in a rut, your brain might be fogged and not able to see everything clearly.
This is where a trusted mentor, therapist, counselor, parent, guardian, sibling, friend, etc. comes in. It might be easier for them to see the things you cannot.
If you don’t have anyone to talk to, God is an amazing listener and gives great guidance. You were not created to do go through these thing alone. Lean into your support system!
Move your body
Sometimes the rut you are in is not as big as it seems. Sometimes it just takes you to go for a walk, hot yoga, Pilates class or hit the gym.
When you workout, your body releases endorphins which are happy hormones that make you feel good after you workout.
Sometimes an endorphin boost does the trick!
Self care is the best care
And other times you just need to be alone in your own space. Log off of social media, pour your favorite beverage, take a bubble bath and unwind.
There is truly nothing better than unwinding in your own space and putting yourself first.
Understand that the things you do for yourself now will most definitely dictate how you treat others down the road.
You cannot be your best for others if you are not for yourself first.
Give it time
Understand that getting out of a rut takes time. This is not a light switch that you can easily turn on and off.
Be patience with yourself. Lean into the discomfort. Learn from the ebbs and flows.
Remain confident in who you are. No, nothing wrong with you. This is all a journey. You’re doing great sweetie!
